Default independent hyper link execl & word

My question relate both excel and word

i want to create "catalog" documnet using word & excel that contain
links to "material" : soundfiles, video, other documents etc...

whenever i press the link the specific documnet will be opened

but...

i want the link to be independent to the storgae hardware i use
Here is an example for what i mean by the word independent :

MY document have links:
link1: c:\lib1\a.wav
link2: c:\lin2\libabcd\c.bmp
link3: etc....

i want a system that will enable me to write some variable of different hardware instead of the c:\

so if i copy the same libraries to a diskonkey, external harddisk which have other logical letter like I:\
G:\ i will still be able to use my catalog documnet

without using a replace command
Plese answer both in offcie and excel(office version office 2003)
