How to undo mistake MS Office 2010?
I am entering info into a spreadsheet and made a mistake, I was trying to delete a column of entries so I selected all info in the N column, right-click and selected DELETE then a small box titled DELETE opened and I chose "Entire Row" and this shifted all cells up by one so my entire no.1 row dissapeared. Looking at the menu at the top of the sheet I am not seeing an UNDO icon, any way I can recover that no.1 row please?

If there's no undo available then your next choice would be to close the workbook WITHOUT saving your changes and then re-opening it again.

Thanks but since I can't remember at what point I had done my last save is there a way I can copy and save what's on there now so when I restart I won't lose most of what I have already done?

Sorry, I did what you said and all is good now [thanks] but for future situations, is there a way for me to have an undo function for whenver I mess up or would I have to close without saving every time I make a mistake?

The undo function should generally be available. A common reason for it not being is if you have macros running in your workbook? Do you find that it is always grayed out, or only sometimes?

I opened and closed my sheet a few times and it is always grayed out but I have never done anything on purpose to the sheet which require macros? I simply opened a new sheet and started entering the info in the cells. The only adjustment I made to the sheet itself is formatting the cells for Currency?

Let's try a couple of things to try to pinpoint what the problem is.
1) Start a new session of Excel. Add a new workbook. Type a few things into a couple of cells. Is the undo command available? If it is available then it's an issue relating to your other workbook, not Excel in general. If not: 2) Start Excel in safe mode*, add a new workbook, type into a couple of the cells. Is the undo command available now? If yes, then I suspect an add-in is causing the problem. * To start Excel in safe mode, open windows explorer and then browse to Excel.exe. It's probably in the folder: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14 Then hold down the CTRL key, right click on Excel.exe and choose Open. You will get a prompt asking you if you want to start Excel in safe mode and you should choose yes. |

what exactly do you mean by "add a new workbook" please? Whenever I create a new spreadsheet I simply open up excel and start entering info in the cells?

Press CTRL+N to create a new workbook. You can have multiple workbooks open in the same Excel session.

Oh, workbook means simply another sheet to me. The undo sign was there when i reopened the sheet I was working on. I don't understand why it wasn't there yesterday?
