Hello,

My question is whether it is possible to check – or even better filter – data in a worksheet for a given sub-set of data. To illustrate what I mean, here an example:

If I have worksheets with lists of companies, will it be possible to check these lists for a particular sub-set, e.g. Company B, Company D, Company F and Company Y? ==> I have also attached a stripped down version of the worksheets in case that helps.


I would need to know whether any or all of them are listed in the individual worksheets. But rather than go through each list entry by entry I was hoping there might be some kind of function that could do this.

I have Excel 2010, by the way.

Have a look at the AutoFilter function. This should provide you with what you want.
If not come back to the forum and we can look at other options.

Tony, thanks for the tip. Unfortunately, the Auto Filter function does not seem to help. At least as far as I can see, it is possible to search for/filter only one word (or in my case company name). The problem is that I want to search for a whole set of names in a list of 100 or more names at a time so I don't have to go through the entire list for every name I am looking for.

Try this:
1. Select Row 7 which contaions your field headings.
2. Turn on the Filter Option.
3. Under "Company" click on the arrow and then select the companies you wish to display.
Does this provide you with what you want?
