In an empty cell type in =SUM(
Then select the cells you want to sum with the mouse. Then finish the formula with ) and press enter. You should end up with a formula like this: =SUM(C1:C10) Where C1:C10 is a reference to the range you want to sum.

Thanks, I have seen those instructions on the net but what I am trying to work is the "Auto sum" one click feature, I had done this a few months back and simply forgot how I did it.
