Formula that references cell with text in different workbook
I know the formula =SUM('[3072 Wedding Fund.xls]Sheet1'!$M$3)in workbook A will retrieve the cell contents of M3 in workbook Wedding Fund.xls. The cell contents in M3 are numeric.
I would also like to retrieve contents from a different cell in the same workbook Wedding Fund.xls. The content is text. I used the same formula above but the results was the forumula in the requesting workbook. What is the formula to retrieve a specific cell contents which is text from a different workbook? Thanks |

Bingo! Works! Again, thanks for the correct formula. I am working on a fairly complex project in Excel and these formulas will help a lot.
A bit personal note if permitted. I see you are from Beligum. Many years ago I was in Antwerp to arrange for my wife and me to return to the US via freighter leaving out of Antwerp. |
