How to prevent security alert when Excel doing web query from https web site?
When doing a web query / data import from a web site with SSL (https) Excel's mini browser gives an alert "Do you want to view only the webpage content that was delivered securely?" The web site we are using is not delivering any content non-SSL (http) but apparently the little yellow /green selection arrows that Excel layers on top of the page are the cause (choosing no/yes will show/not show those arrows). Those images must be getting fetched locally as non-SSL and causing the mixed content alert.
In our case: - The web site repaints many times as the users drills down to their data on the web site, so this annoying alert appears each time it repaints. - this affects a large number of users in the company - the users cannot change their browser security settings to prevent this alert since it is locked down by the company (plus not sure if the Excel minibrowser even uses all of the settings from the regular IE browser) Does anyone know of a way to stop these annoying alerts ? Thanks in advance. |
