Default Remove time portion in date

How can I remove the time from date? I have thousands of records so I will need a faster way to do this.

30/06/2010 13:30
23/06/2010 12:15
20/06/2010 11:11

Thanks,

Hi Angie and welcome to the forum,

The quickest way to permanently remove them would be to select the column and use the text to columns button on the data tab.
  • Select the column
  • Data tab > text to columns
  • Choose Delimited > next
  • Choose Space > next
  • In the data preview pane at the bottom select the right hand column containing the times and then in the Column data format frame choose Do not import column (skip)
  • Finish

Just reformat the desired cells (column) using Date 3/14/01 (American)
It will automatically drop off the Time stamp

I'm sure you already know this, Gary, but I'll just elaborate on your suggestion for the benefit of anyone else who's reading the thread....

You have to be really careful with this option. If you just reformat the cells then it's important to understand that the times are still stored within the cell, it's just that they're not shown to the user. Of course that might be fine - or it may be a huge headache - depending on what you plan to do with them.
