HI,
when you try to open it, any special masseges or warning produced? Have you tried to open your file in another machine? i.e. use another computer other than yours and it maybe opened. Otherwise, if it is possible and "If the data are not personal or confidential", compress your file and attach it in this forum so that someone can try opening it. Since you said your 2007 is a new install, have you tried any other files you created in 2003 to see if you still have this problem with your migration to 2007?
If you are having no issues, then we can begin knowing you are having issues with one particular problem, rather than an over-all migration problem |

I am having the same problem. Office 2007 is newly installed. My problem is only with some excel files on my linux suse 10 server. some open fine. Others the computer hangs for a little bit, then comes back with the error can not open file (not much help). But if I copy the file from the server to my desktop I can open the file fine. I am totally confused because it is not all excel files from the server but only some. Any help would be greatly appreciated.. Maybe a fix from Microsoft???

I know nothing about Linux, but I would start with the premise that M$ does not like Linux
Once a file is put into a M$ environment, then things work fine I would, therefore, "Google" for Linux solutions before I went to M$ I long ago learned going outside of M$ Operating System can create extra problems I would make the same observation if I used Apple products; to wit, I would be leery of non-Apple products with a Windows basis--for example, Office for Apple would be fine, because this Office version would be written for an Apple OS Mixing OS's is one road I care not to travel down |

My problems are with some excel files and excel files only. Word and anything else created in 2003 is fine. I believe it is Linux that is causing the problem, but I don't know why it is only some excel files and not all?
I would never mixed os's either. That is the way this network was set up here when I came and it does cause nothing but headaches. I am hoping to get some things changed but in the mean time I have to try to figure this out. |

Here is how I would circle in on your problem...
Notice my search terms (above) so as you circle in you can refine your search(es) Still no good solution, then I would check various Lenux forums Surprise, surprise, I do NOT see any M$ forums addressing Lenux In sum, I sense this will be a problem you will have to circle in on Even running total M$, certain files just plain can act spooky, especially on Mondays or deadlines ![]() |
