Unhappy Why wont my simple formulae work?

I have been creating a very simple spreadsheet and when it came to adding some formulae to it i have noticed some really strange behaviour and was wondering if anyone else has exerienced the same.

As you will be able to see from the attached file, there is nothing complex about this sheet at all, however the formulae that is entered on the "Calculations" sheet appear to display as if they were in formula view (This is not the case).

In cell B10 on sheet "calculations" I have the formula "=SUM(Stock!G10:G43)" and I am getting nothing.
Also on the same sheet there is the formula "=C3+potato", the reference "potato" does not exist and I have no Reference error???????
There is also the formula "=SUM(C10:C11)" (C10=4, C11=1) and the result is 0. I didn't think excel could forget how to count!?!?!

Hopefully someone could help me out here as I am at a complete loss for what to do now.

Thankx in advance.

Florish

Default Simple formula fix

The cells are formatted as Text. You need to format them back to general (Format >> Format Cells) and then click into the formula bar for each formula and then hit enter. This will refresh them and excel will now see them as formulas.

It seems that some of your cells are formatted as text. When you select the cells you can use the Format option on the main toolbar and change the value from Text to Number.

You also had an error with your SUM function.

It should be =SUM(E10:E11)

Hope this helps :-)
