Merging three columns of data
Hi, I am working on a solution to a co-worker's issue of getting names and company names from a worksheet in Excel, into Word to use in a label template. When the data gets organized in Excel, there is a column for First Name, column for Last Name, and a third column for the Company Name of the person. What I would like to do is merge the information so that the First, Last and Company Name(s) all wind up in their own cell (preferably with first and last names on one line, a paragraph return and then the company name on the second line. Is there a way to do this? If there is a Macro code to use on this issue....what is that and how do I use it? I'm not an Office pro, I'm a graphic designer. I'm pretty good at troubleshooting processes between various platforms, but I'm having trouble with this one. Help, please! Thank you~ Janelle |

Column A: First Name
Column B: Last Name Column C: Company Name In D1 put this formula: =A1 & " " & B1 & CHAR(10) & C1 Then format that cell to Wrap Text. Copy that down as needed. |

Thank you so much! That worked like a charm. Now if I could just get Word to cooperate.......

If you lay out your Label template in an Excel spreadsheet, we can add the logo you want there, then use a macro to feed your names into the template sheet, print, loop, repeat. Pretty easy, probably.

Do you mean I could create a new sheet to add to the Elements Gallery? So I format the custom sheet to reflect the name tag template with logo embedded at the bottom of each name tag area? I need to use the Avery #5392 name tag template (6-up on a page) and ensure that our company logo stays put at the bottom of each label, centered. It does sound simple, but Word is giving me a crazy hard time making it happen smoothly.
If I can get a new sheet created to resemble my label template, can you help me out with the Macro code to use to make the information in Column D flow correctly into the template? If so...you're a GENIUS and I thank you for your time and attention! ~janelle |

JBeaucaire,
Thank you a million times for the suggestions and great tips! I have just shared the Avery wizard with my co-workers and worked out the kinks in their process of printing name tags. What used to take them over 3 hours in many cases, now takes them about 20 minutes. I commend you - you are very helpful and kind! Bravo~ Janelle |
