Hi board members.
I'm coding a spreadsheet index to the vid files on my hds. Each row represents a video file, with hyperlinks to the video; folder; url; and an associated image. I have also included a checkbox for "viewed" and a star rating. Now, what I want to do is include a category for each row (file) Is there a way of clicking on a cell within that row which will provide a list of rating/descriptions which when clicked will return a "single" letter representing that selection. And then when I have left the cell - only that letter remains and the list of rating/descriptions closes? I would use a Form List Box but in a vacant cell and then use a "if" statement to return the specific "single letter" selection, but I don't want the Form List Box to be visible on screen once used. Got any ideas? Happy Holiday Season Mal from Cessnock AU |

Perhaps Data Validation?

Pecoflyer, yes - I had worked it out last night. I found a site where they suggest putting the data on another sheet or somewhere out of the way, then call upon that data by using data validation in the cell required, c1
I wanted the final result in C2 so I used a long =if statements to check c1 and return my wanted one letter value. C1 is only 1 wide and melds visually with C2 so I have my wish. Happy Holiday, Mal |

I didn't know to do that - but not so fast...
Is it possible to dictate the size (rows) of the drop down list? I have 22 in the "range" to select from but the default box only gives me 8 rows with a scroll bar. Can I make it show the full 22 rows in my "range"? Thanks - hope you can help with this. Cheers, Mal |

I'm not sure in 2007/10, but anyway there is a workaround using a combo box at this site

I am new to this forum.
what I desire to do is contain a category for every row (file) Is there a method of hitting it of on a cell within that row which will make availed a registry of rating/descriptions which when clicked determine to return a single letter representing with the intention of selection. I had got some information from this site related to this topic. |
