set formula calc to manual when opening any workbook
hi,
I need to have excel open any existing workbook with formula calculation set to 'manual'. I've added a workbook with manual setting to my xlstart folder, which works great for getting the setting to manual automatically when a user opens a workbook with excel not already open. but the only way I can think of to have excel set the setting to manual when opening any workbook regardless of whether excel is already open or not is to tie the action of manual setting to any 'open' event. or maybe there is another way? please advise. thank you. - john |

If you want a specific workbook to open with calculation set to manual, create this sub in the workbook:
Sub Auto_Open() Application.Calculation = xlManual End Sub It automatically runs when you open the workbook, and sets calculation to manual. If you want excel to always open with calculation turned off, create personal.xlsb, save it in the correct folder and put the sub in it. You can look up how to setup and use personal.xlsb on the web. I'm not sure why you would set calculation to manual as the default, though. |
