Excel 2016 Macros running slow
Hi - I was using Excel 2010 and with a large number of VBA macro codes.
I install Excel 2016 from the 365 office pack and now my macro is taking a long time to run where it only took a few seconds in Excel 2010. Why is this and it there a solution to this without changing my VBA code? I am using Windows 7 (64). |

I had the same effect going from Mac 2011 to 2016.
Application.Screenupdating = false helps but the speed is still miserable. The screens go blank while things are calculating. You need to follow-up with Application.Screenupdating = true when your done. I don't know if this is available in Windows |

What does your code do? I find each succesive version gets a little slower but there shouldn't be a massive difference in speed - unless you are protecting and unprotecting sheets.

I don't know specifically what it does. I seems to just avoid sending signals to the screen i.e. leaves them blank. My stuff doesn't have any protect/unprotect commands but does have lots of charts and sort commands. For macros that are just calculations and no charts to update the slowness is not nearly as apparent.
The Mac Excel 2011 has the no-screen-updating built in but doesn't blank out the screens -- it just didn't update anything until it is done with the macros. Much, much Better. |
