Hi all!

I have a strange behaviour in Excel: I cannot calculate values either in Excel worksheet nor by VBA. If I have a new workbook with 2 Sheets. Sheet1 is empty, sheet2 has a button linked to the code:
Sheets(1).Cells(1,1).Select
The error 1004 comes up. "Selection method or range class method failed".

The code:
Sheets(2).Cells(1,1).Select
works fine.

I Need EXCEL VBA for my work. Can anyone suggest what's wrong?

Just to mention it: macro security settings are low, VBA trust is on.
Workbook/worksheet properties are at default setting with EnableSelection on.

Since you talk about a new workbook I assume its unlikely that sheet 1 is protected?

Therefore, can you upload the file?

this effect showed up with any new file.
I uninstalled the MS analysis libraries, restarted the computer, and voilà, it works again.
I have no idea what it was, but I wouldn't like to reinstall the analysis pack again!

Glad to hear you got a solution. Though, I never heard about a interference of excel 2003 with its own analysis pack. There rather have been other programs causing troubles, although on the first sight it isn't obvious the relation. For some time there have been problems when installed e.g. google chrome on the same computer.
Just be aware of this, in case the problem or something similar occurs again.
