Formulas/Scripts That Cross Reference & Import Data
I am not a frequent user of Excel and I have never used a macro to perform certain functions but I have a project that likely could use a macro to achieve what I desire.
Can column code data be cross referenced to a master list to display the description of the code? For example, data in a column is a facility code. I have a separate master list of all facility codes. Can a formula/script be written that takes the facility code then goes out and cross references the code in the listing and import the facility name in a new column? Similarly, another column contains data that is an operation code. I have a separate list of all operation codes. Can a formula/script be written that take the code then goes out to the listing cross referencing it and imports the code description back into another new column? In another column I have a tracking number is unique for each record and would be the link in the records. Is this possible to achieve in Excel without an enormous amount of work? Thanks. Keith |

Search & Import Function
I am an infrequent user of Excel but I have a project I am working on and I am curious if certain functions can be run through a formula/script.
I have a spreadsheet that has multiple rows of downloaded processing activity dates and times. Is it possible to write a formula/script for a record that goes out to this spreadsheet and finds the last processing date and time (along with other descriptive data) and imports it into another section of my spreadsheet? Thanks. Keith |

Keith,
Can you attach a copy of your file so we can see. It would help. But, you should probably use "Access". And, too it could be done in Excel Charles |

This is quite easy to do using Excel's LOOKUP function or combined INDEX/MATCH functions. See, for example: https://www.msofficeforums.com/excel...ting-data.html. No programming required.
PS: I've merged your two threads as both issues can be handled in much the same way.
