Default find files and insert filepaths

hello!

I want with one click to this:

EXCEL will read a specific column and when it finds text in a cell of that column, to search in a predefined folder for a file with filename that matches the text of that cell, and then insert in the cell at the right the path of that file

is it possible?

thanks!

Hi userman,

Your post doesn't make sense: you say you want to insert the file's path, but you've already decided what folder to look in. In that case, the path is the path for the folder you're looking in - which you already know.

I am not sure if we give the same meaning to the term "path"

let's say a file named data.txt exists in C:\Windows\temp

its path is C:\Windows\data.txt and not C:\Windows\temp

this is what I mean by "path"

The path to a file that exists in "C:\Windows\temp" is NOT "C:\Windows\" or ("C:\Windows"). It is "C:\Windows\temp". The name is "data.txt". The full name (ie path and name) is "C:\Windows\temp\data.txt".

If you issue a command to look in "C:\Windows\temp" the file "C:\Windows\data.txt" will not be found, because the path is different. For the same reasons, neither will the file "C:\Windows\temp\data.txt" be found if you look in "C:\Windows".
