Default Word - inserting images

instead of inserting images from the hard disk to a Word document, is it possible to insert a link from the hard link instead ? every time the image changes, the image in the Word document is updated

Hi sulasno,

Sure is - simply choose the 'link to file' option when inserting/pasting the image into the document. With pasting, you'll need to choose the 'paste special' approach.

I guess this feature is not available in Office XP; Insert | Object | Create from File Click Link to file Browse for the file and I get is the name of the file on the Word document clicking on the object opens up the file though (It's an image) Previewed in printing mode does not display the image

Hi sulasno,

That suggests you clicked the 'display as icon' option instead of (or maybe as well as) the 'link to file' option. Word XP gives you two methods of inserting pictures:
Insert|Object; and
Insert|Picture.
Both of these support the 'link to file' option. With Insert|Object, it's a checkbox on the 'Create from file' dialogue box. With Insert|Picture, it's on the 'Insert' dropdown on the 'From file' dialogue box.
