Default Converting black icon to white

I insert a black and white background (png file) icon into my document and I want to change it to white icon with transparent background. There is a feature to set transparent background but to change it to white icon, there is no white option for recolor picture in Word image editor.

How can I do that in MS Word ?

Can you show us the 'original' .png icon you are using?

If it’s something like this:

You can remove the white background via Format > Remove Background.
Then, right click the image > Format Picture > Picture > Picture Corrections > Brightness/Contrast > Brightness > +100%.
Click the image below to see this process. Hopefully it suits your needs.
Note – I have a coloured background page so the white icon can be seen.

When I click Remove Background, the icon disappears.
I try to undo, skip remove background, set transparent color. When I increase the brightness, the image disappears (image 2).
Whe I set transparent color, the background disappears, but there are still white portions there (image 1)

We need to remember that Word isn’t an image editor and its ability to edit images is somewhat limited as it lacks the tools.
Click the image to see your flange image with the background being removed using the Mark Areas to Keep option.
It is a low quality image and the result is as expected - poor.
Because of the low quality, using the ‘Mark Areas to Keep’ tool allows spotting with the mouse to select the wanted area(s). Higher quality images need the tool to be drawn across an area that’s wanted.

Your method worked for me. Started with Icon that was black and had no background. Needed it in white. Couldn't tell how to do it in photos (quickly). It was easy to do in MS Word. Changed Brightness only.
