Default Really getting rid of text box borders

I am trying to create a one page department letter head. I have the header and footer set with logos and text with no problem. My boss wants the address and officer names and titles in the left margin, with a solid line separating them from the main letter.

I am using Microsoft Office 365, so the software is current. I have managed to get the text and colored, and thickened line in by selecting the right border selection set. The problem is that even with the other three borders “deselected” the top, left, and bottom border lines refuse to go away. The right border is colored and thickened properly.

I have checked to insure that the text box is not touching either the header or footer. I have been at this for several days now, and could really use the help. I have also tried modifying columns, but that’s a whole other disaster.

Thanks in advance. I don’t know why but the attachment change in appearance after I sent it. Both graphics were in the header, and there was a 3 pt blue stripe to the text. Sorry

Right click the box > Format Shape > Line Color > No Line
It looks like the document should be a template rather than a document - see attached.

See attached template.
  1. You want a template, not a document.
  2. You want it in current .dotx format. You do not want it in the old .doc format or in compatibility mode.
  3. The entire letterhead (with logos and textbox) is in the first-page header with a reduced letterhead on the continuation pages. This makes it much less likely that someone using the template will mess up the letterhead.
  4. The first page has a CreateDate field formatted in the Date style.
  5. The primary (continuation) header has a StyleRef Field referring to that date so if it is changed on the first page, it will also change on other pages.
  6. The top margin has been reduced. This only changes continuation pages since the header on the first page will go past the margin and push the text in the body down.

Thanks for getting back to me. I originally saved it as a template, but posted inadvertently as .doc file while posting to forum. I have tried selecting ‘no color’ without Success; but I shall follow your instructions to the letter. Thanks again.

Thank you so much. I was using the text box field on the ribbon. I never thought of right clicking the text box itself. Take care my friend.
