Default Insert image with transparency?

Hi, is there any version of microsoft word that will let me insert an image, that already has some transparency? I'm using 2007 and whenever I drag in an image the transparency goes white.
I don't like the tool that lets you click a colour to make the image transparent, it isn't as good as the graphics artist I'm paying

Is the image you are inserting/dragging into a document a .png or .gif?
If you were to save the image below (a png with transparent background) and insert it into a doc with say an 'In front of text' or 'Through' wrap, what do you see?

PNG & GIF images support transparent backgrounds. Saying that, if a PNG or GIF has a background (not been removed), it will show because it is there.
