Default How to duplicate a shape?

I created a circle using:
Insert then [Illustrations] Shapes, then selected the oval and formed a 5” circle.
I’d like the circle to be blank. Instead it’s “filled.”More importantly, I would like to copy it and paste the copyimmediately below the first one.Copy/paste doesn’t seem to work as the circle doesn’t want to be copied.
Help please.

When you insert a shape it is already selected and the format tab on the ribbon is activated. Change the shape fill and outline to give you the results you want. You can right click and set that as default if you wish, though frankly required shapes tend to be different each time. It might be preferable to save your preference as a formatted autocorrect entry (which you can insert as often as you wish).

Also on the right click button is the command to copy the selected shape. When copied it can be pasted to provide another means of producing a duplicate.
