Hi everyone,
So I have a logo in CMYK and I want to use it for a word letterhead that is going to be often printed. At first, I thought I could simply export it to PNG but PNG doesn't support CMYK. JPEG does but it doesn't support transparent background and EPS is no longer supported by word. So is there any other format to export from illustrator? My second question is, even when exporting a JPEG logo/graphic from illustrator, in CMYK, will it then convert to RGB once I place it in word or will it retain the CMYK values? I am worried that word will mess up the colours/ I am looking for the best option for colour consistency. Thanks in advance! |

Colour conversions between CMYK and RGB use a simple mathematical algorithm and there is a 1:1 relationship between the two. Word works with RGB internally, but most printers use CMYK. Hence there is almost always a conversion going on between the two formats, but the 1:1 relationship means that is of no consequence. Choose whichever source format you prefer to work with as they're equal in terms of colour consistency.
