Question Non-Printing Graphics vs Printing

I need to set up a word document as a letterhead template where one document will print placed graphics, including the background, header and footer. I need an identical document that has graphics in place, but will NOT print them. For use on pre-printed letterhead.

I'm on a mac with Office 2007. I have discovered that by going the preferences, I can check whether I want to print drawn objects or not, but I'm looking to see if there is a way to NOT go into preferences and just set one document to print them, and the other to not. Any help is appreciated.

I've never noticed that. Faced with the same situation, I would create two documents.

No, maybe I wasn't clear. I WANT two documents that perform differently. One should print graphics and the other should not. But I can't find a way to set the documents so they do that.

To print one way or another, I have to go change the Word preferences (the "drawing objects" checkbox). I want one document to print and the other to not print graphics without me having to fuss with Word's preferences. Does this make sense? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks so much.

I'm guessing you want one that doesn't print graphics because you have professionally printed letterhead loaded into the printer at times. In that case, why put the graphics in the file at all? Why not create a blank header and footer of the desired heights and let users type in the middle?

I love it. Common sense... that's exactly what I proposed for this from the beginning.. but my client insisted there was a way to set documents so that one would print graphics and one wouldn't and they want the graphics in the non-printing version so they can SEE how it looks. It makes no sense.. it's letterhead... and I'm quite frustrated by the nonsense I have to go through to figure out something that is entirely unnecessary.

So... perhaps they just won't get this one solved. they have two options... don't have graphics in one... or set the "drawing objects" checkbox to checked or not before they print. it's not difficult. But clients tend to like to make things difficult. Thanks for the reply.
