Word eps filter cannot render Optima font in imported pictures
I create .eps images using Adobe Illustrator. The images contain callouts formatted with the Optima font. When I import the file into Word (either by linking or embedding), the Optima font is rendered incorrectly, both on the screen and when printed. This behavior carries over into Acrobat .pdf output as well.
I have not seen this behavior with other fonts!!! I have saved the .eps files in Illustrator v8 and CS4, and I make sure the fonts are embedded when I create the files. I have used both OpenType and TrueType versions of the Optima font. I get different results depending upon the approach I use, but in every case the font is distorted, rendered in Courier, or completely unreadable. I assume the problem lies with Word's eps import filter. It simply gags when it sees Optima. Anybody have any ideas? |
