Question setting defaults for "Save as picture"

When I'm rescuing content from .docx files for migration, I often need to save a pasted-in graphic as an external file. Easy enough, but the default save location is always Libraries/Pictures. It would save me a lot of clicking if I could select a different location the first time I use Save as picture in the session … any ideas?

Using the filename as a placeholder in the new document and migrating all the files from Libraries/Pictures at the end of the session would be possible, but tiresome :-}

Why not simply convert the file to a zip archive (which you can do by changing the extension to .zip), then copying the graphic from there to wherever you want it?

Chiefly a workflow thang … while I'm working top to bottom through the source file, it's easier to deal with each graphic as I come across it; including giving it a meaningful name derived from its context. With other documents, I've sometimes used the save as .html option to extract all the graphics.

I've ended up taking my own advice :-} save graphics on the fly to Windows' preferred location, add links using that location so I can check the result; end of session, move all graphics to my preferred location and s/r in .xml source to update references.

I appreciate you have used another solution, but it is possible to change the save location for pictures in Word.
I have used Word 2010 and Windows 7 in my example below, but it is possible to do it in other OS’s such as Windows 10 with say Word 2016.
Click the image below to see a short video on how to do it.
