Default All images rendered correctly except one

In my document I have dozens of images. They are all rendered correctly, except one, for some reason that's beyond me.
What I see in the image's place is in the attached file below ; it's a red cross.
When I right click on the red cross and choose "Modify Image", I get sent to the correct location and file.
Any help appreciated

What is the image file format? Have you tried opening the image in an image editor and re-saving it before reinserting it into Word?
