Different watermark in different pages
I am preparing a document using Word2010 where I will require different background (watermark) for different pages. There was some suggestion to breakup the document in different sections with similar intended background, remove “Link to previous” in headers and then insert watermark in different sections. However, this suggestion is not working. Either I am getting same background in all the pages or, when I remove background in one section, all backgrounds are removed. Can anyone help please?

Word's watermark 'feature' is pretty much an all-or-nothing affair. If you want different 'watermarks' on different pages, you could simply open the page header(s) and insert 'watermarks' or your own. The best way of doing this really depends on how you want them to work. For example, if you want one 'watermark' to appear on the first page and a different one thereafter, you don't need Section breaks; all you need is to use a 'different first page' setup. Similarly, you can use a 'different odd and even pages' setup - with or without the 'different first page' setup - to have different 'watermarks' on odd and even pages. Only once your requirements are more complex than that might you need to resort to Section breaks, etc.

As Paul said, the Watermark feature is all or nothing.
Watermarks in Ribbon Versions of Word If you want a different watermark on every page, create the watermark (image) and insert it into the page itself rather than in the header. It should be set to be behind text and placed relative to the edge of the page. 00 deleteme 1.png This should be done when you are otherwise done with editing because images in the body of the document (rather than in the header) are going to be anchored to text and if the text moves, the watermark (image) can move as well (to a different page). Note, placement in headers is preferred for a number of reasons but you do not want a new section for every page (or if you use all of the headers, every three pages). |
