Placed PNG files turning into plain white objects
I tend to use PNG files for charts and graphics that I make in InDesign and place into Word, because for this sort of thing they make smaller files without any artifacts like Jpegs.
However some of them, at some stage, will turn into a plain white box in word. If I have, say, three on the page, one of them will randomly go blank and there's no way to get it back. It doesn't show on screen, it doesn't print, it doesn't pdf. The only solution is to replace the graphic. This never happens with a Jpeg. I've had this problem for years (since at least Word 2010) and ended up sidestepping it by using Jpegs instead of PNGs but I thought with Word 2016 perhaps it was gone... no, still around. I had 5 files from Visio (ranging from between half a page and a full page) and only of them in an open document suddenly went blank. Any ideas what's going on? |
