Hyperlink Text to an Image in Word

How can I hyperlink text in a Word document to an image that is contained in the same document? When I click on the text, it should open the image in a new window.

Bookmark the image, then hyperlink to that. As for the new window, hyperlinks within a document open in the same window.

Thank you. Clicking the hyperlink to the bookmark just opens the page that contains the image - and not in a new window. I would like the hyperlink to open just the image in a new window.

That's how hyperlinks within a document work.

I suspected that there was no way to do this in Word. Such a simple thing, it's hard to believe that Microsoft doesn't support it.

Word does support opening hyperlinks in a their own Window but since your document already has that window open, all that happens is you move to that location.

In order to epublish a book that has hyperlinks that open images within the ebook, I will need to find another program, perhaps Publisher. Thank you, Paul.

The hyperlink behaviour in Word has no effect on how a different app (e.g. Kindle) might treat them.
