Default 8,000kb file size for 3 page template

Hi,

I am creating 3 page Word 2013 template, each page contains a different background images inserted through header and footer options. However, the images on their own have a file size of 2375kb so why is the template size 7159?

I have tried inserting the images through copy paste and also saved them to my hard drive and used the insert picture command on the header and footer ribbon.

I am using custom colours but other than the images mentioned above and 3 short lines of text the template contains nothing else.

This is really inconvenient and not good as we have many templates.

I appreciate any help or advice.

Many thanks
Caz

I realize I'm late coming to this, but 3x2375 = 7125, extremely close to your file size. What is your difficulty with that?

Hi,

Perhaps my description was not very well written, but all the size of all three images add up to 2375, that is not the size per image.

Hi caz46,

The difference is probably due to Word be unable to compress the embedded images. You could, of course, insert them as links, which would reduce the file size considerably. This also has the advantage of allowing you to replace one or more of the image files and having all the templates and associated documents update with the new image(s). The downside is that the images won't be available if you send the documents to someone without access to the folder in which the images are stored.
