"Save as picture" not offering directory
Trying to rescue graphics that have been pasted into a document I've inherited, so I can manage them a bit better with Insert and Link …
Many of them yield to Save as picture, which opens a file explorer where I can set the directory I want to save to. One or two don't: Save as picture (not greyed out) doesn't give me any option to say where I want to save the picture. From their content, I suspect they may originally have been Visio drawings, but they no longer offer the Visio object commands. Any tips for extracting them all the same, apart from via .pdf? Thanks in advance. |

Easy:
1. make a copy of the file, in docx format. 2. change the file extension to .zip 3. open the zip archive 4. extract the images to wherever you want them.

Admirably devious! unfortunately, the word/media file contains all the bitmaps (jpg and png), but where the Visio ghosts were it just delivers 2k emf files. If I paste these into a new .docx, I get just a frame :-{
Thanks anyway – already worth asking just for that trick to export pasted graphics. |

You may need to ensure Word's emf graphics filter is installed. See:
