Default Make Pictures Auto Fit When Dropped In

My work flow is horribly long because of my noobisness. I have experimented but failed.

I put two pictures on each page wit a single line of text under each one.
The goal is to have all the pics the same width and height, and use all the space so the details in the pics can be seen better.

What I do is set it up for 1.0 line spacing, remove space under paragraph and center justify.
Then I drag a 655 x 480 image onto the document and it has to be dragged by a corner to fit. And this is a task in its self to line it up to be the proper size. UGH!!! Help?

I need to drop it onto the page and it auto size to the format I want.

See attached. The top page is how I start. I click a pic and drag. Ugh.

The bottom page is what I want but in a faster or more efficient manner.

Thanks!

Hi gapi,

In all likelihood, the pasted images are coming out as small as they are because of their limited resolution. The printout of a 655 x 480 image stretched to page width would look quite poor. Nevertheless, if that's what you want, you can re-format the lot in bulk with a macro like:
Code:
Sub ReformatPics()
Dim iShp As InlineShape
For Each iShp In ActiveDocument.InlineShapes
  With iShp
    .LockAspectRatio = True
    .Width = InchesToPoints(6.5)
  End With
Next iShp
End Sub

Of course I looked at your attachment - where else do you suppose I might have gotten the 6.5in width from. You can also see how many times you document has been viewed. If you think a colour picture printed at approx 100dpi looks fine, that's up to you - it's far below the generally-accepted 300-360dpi for a 6.5*4.75in print.

As for how to install & use a macro, see: http://www.gmayor.com/installing_macro.htm

Thanks fotr your patience and sticking with me. Your tips may be over my head. I'll look them over.
I was hoping for a way to add tables or anything that when an image is dropped it they went to the dimensions I wanted.

There are ways of automatically constraining pictures that are too large to fit a smaller area, but not for automatically expanding under-sized images to fit a larger area. For that, a macro must be used - either at the time of insertion (eg by intercepting the Insert|Picture dialogue) or later. The macro I posted is for the latter.

Thanks, I found the magic resolution for reducing to fit and will look at the macro for increasing.
The smaller ones that need to be expanded are frames from a video. I may be able ti use Sony Vegas to render the frames for what I want also.
