Default Merge after selecting client

I need to develop a system where I can merge a number (approx 8) of standard Word 2003 letters with client name and address data stored in Excel.
That would normally be fine but I want them to be able to select the client using a drop-down list or spinner and for this drop-down list to be easily updated as client data may change or new clients may need to be added.
All suggestions welcome and thanks in advance.
