Remember that to view field codes, you can use Alt+F9 to toggle their display. Remember to toggle back to field code results.

My current favorite is using a document property content control (not field) so that a change made anywhere in a document is reflected in the other document properties. If you go to that article, search for document property. The article is long and very much worth reading.
