Default Problem with [Ctrl] + [Left Arrow] in Word 2010 (32bit)

Hi, we have a computer in our office which is running Office 2010 on Windows 7 Professional and it has a strange issue with the [Ctrl] + [Left Arrow] command (used to skip to the next or previous word by using [Ctrl] + left/right arrow).
In Microsoft Word, [Ctrl] + [Right Arrow] works perfectly but when [Ctrl] + [Left Arrow] is pressed the computer makes a sound (the kind of sound alert that you get if you press an incorrect key or too many keys at once), does nothing on the first press and then skips over only one letter at a time for any additional presses.

I opened the Customize keyboard window in Word and tried to resolve the problem. In this window I realized that when I press [Ctrl] + [Left Arrow], Windows is actually recognizing it as [Ctrl] + [C].

To make the description even more complicated, if I use the right side [Ctrl] + [Left arrow] in Word it actually works but if I do this in the Customize keyboard window it still states I am pressing [Ctrl] + [C].

Anyone have any ideas what might be causing this problem?

Kind Regards

Alex
