Is is possible to separate the list of endnotes with chapter titles, as required by many publishers, that are not part of the previous or next endnote - in other words, so they will not disappear if the endnotes before and after them are deleted?

If thiis is not possible while leaving the note linking intact, is it possible to unlink the notes? Seems like I used to be able to do this in Word 2007 but not in Word 365 (2013).
