Englewood, go to Slide Master and select the slide that has the graphic, select the graphic then delete. For your second question you'll want to re-compress the file when finished. Try right-clicking the file-Send to-Compressed (zipped) folder. This is only necessary if the file size is too big and you want to decrease the size, but unless you have a compressor software the difference in file size will be minimal.
