Lapse of a link in a Word 2000 document
I am using Word 2000 in connection with Windows 7 Home Premium SP1.
In a Word document, I have a number of links, one of them is:
http://www.fotos-reiseberichte.de/shared/zeitzonen.htm
If I click on this link, the following notice appears:
“http://www.fotos-reiseberichte.de/shared/zeitzonen.htm could not be opened. It is impossible to download the information requested.”
(This is a translation of the German notice, it therefore may possibly somewhat differ from the English version.)
This behavior is independent of wether I use Internet Explorer or Firefox as a browser.
If I copy the link into the address window of the browser and thereupon start browsing, everything works normally.
All the other links in my document work normally when I click on them.
The said Word document has been created in my previous computer (Word 2000, Windows XP Professional SP2) and I was shure to remember that the link has been working correctly in the original document. Accordingly I reactivated this ancient apparatus and tested the link in the original document – and it did work!
Then I copied the document from the new computer to the old one and tested the link – and it did work too!
Then I copied the original document from the old computer to the new one and tested the link – and it did not work!
It seems to me as if the incorrect behavior of the link is a question of the operating system used. But what is the problem and why only this one link is affected and all the others not?
Can anyone provide an answer?
Thanks in advance
Ernesto
