Sorry if I wasn’t clear when I said “If I highlight text and press delete or backspace it does delete…”. In answer to your question, yes, I did try pressing delete and yes this does delete the text. This however does not solve my problem. For a number of reasons, it is preferable for me to use “enter” rather than “delete” or “backspace” to delete highlighted text. This is a normal function in word. For some reason this setting has been changed on my computer. Incidentally, when I highlight text and press enter in Wordpad, the text does delete, so the problem is Microsoft Word specific and not related to a generalized keyboard setting on my machine.
