As for reinstalling Office, that rarely achieves anything a repair won't.
I'm sorry, I took that completely the wrong way. I have been putting in a lot of late nights trying to finish up my dissertation, and I've been enduring a fairly frequent amount of crashes in several Office programs (due to large file sizes). I came in this morning after 4 hours of sleep and read your response, and I don't know why I interpreted it that way. That's entirely my bad.

Anyways, for some reason, the "Recover Documents" button is in fact not always showing up at the bottom of my screen, and I haven't really been able to find anyone else having this problem. Despite the potential futility, I am going to try reinstalling Office over the weekend and see if that fixes it.
