If you set up a multilevel list with the appropriate levels you can then use LISTNUM fields in place of 4.1.a), 4.1.b) and 4.1.c) in your example.
There is a built-in shortcut to add the LISTNUM field: Ctrl+Alt+L. Once you have inserted the field, you can right-click it and use Increase Indent / Decrease Indent to change numbering levels. (The command doesn't actually affect the indentation, only the level of the multilevel list.)
