Word 2013, Microsoft

I cannot figure out why some pages are mislabeled on the navigation pane. For example, I go from page 1 to page 3, with no page 2 present. Same for 13 jumps to 15 and 17 jumps to 19.

I had been inserting blank pages and then later deleting some of them.

I tried deleting page numbers via the headers/footers control but nothing happens.

I can't properly number my pages in the document until the navigation pane correctly sequences each page 1, 2, 3, 4, ......

I have 350 pages to number in proper sequence.

I'm stumped.
