More info: It used to be that Powerpoint (Desktop) was the program used to open the show (.ppsx). I now find that its Microsoft Open XML Converter instead. When I change this file association back to Powerpoint (Desktop), the show opens in edit mode just like a presentation (.pptx). What is going on with Powerpoint?
