You have a couple of options:
  1. Include the location site in the name of the task.
  2. Use a spare text field (perhaps with a a lookup list) to select a location for the task. I'd set the default to your home lab if that is where the majority of the work is done.
As you your question about the Calendar view - the color choices for task bars are very limited in the Calendar view. You can use the marked field to change the color of bars in the Calendar view or apply a highlight filter. But if you have more than two locations this won't suit your needs. You can filter by Resource, or by location (using the spare text field), or by Resource and Location. Apply the filter in the Gantt chart view and then switch to the Calendar view to see the filtered tasks.
