Default Insert File Printout w/ PDF fail

When attempting to add information from a PDF file onto a note, I want to do Insert/File Printout but get an error message indicating the file is corrupt or the program that can open it has to be present on the machine. I've got Acrobat X and I get the same message regardless of where the file was created (read Acrobat ver. no.) or whether Acrobat is open or not. Using Office 365. Any ideas?
