Default Hyperlink problem

I am sure I am doing something wrong.

I am hyperlinking words in my Word 2013 document (Windows platform) to another location in the same document. The directions seem as easy as can be. Highlight word or text, right click, go to hyperlink, box comes up, choose where to go from the list, hit OK, and done.

BUT, my original text is not in a hyperlink color. When I hit the text, it says it is hyperlinked and to use control-click to go to it. That works, but it's not what I want. I want the original word to look like hyperlinks in other documents I have seen (such as table of contents in ebooks) such that it looks like a hyperlink and I only have to click on it and it jumps to that page.

For me, there is no color change for the text I hyperlinked. You would not know it was hyperlinked unless you clicked on it.

Can't figure out what I am doing wrong. Sorry I am so slow with what should be simple.
