Default Alignment problems with decimals using tables in Publisher 2013

My table has 2 columns. The left column has a long description that goes down to the second line. The right hand column has dollar amounts. I tried making a table with decimal tabs in Word 2013 and that did not work so I went to Excel 2013 and was able to use the number format called "Accounting". I then would copy and paste into Publisher 2013. I am on Windows 8.1. I am using Office 365. All worked fine as long as my description only used one line, but when it wrapped to the next line, it put the right hand dollar amounts out of alignment. So I went back into Excel 2013 and split the descriptions into separate lines. That helped but I still had alignment problems and then was picking up extra space above and below some lines. Can you tell me a better way to make tables to use for descriptions and dollar amounts and how to get the table into Publisher? Usually I use the "Currency" format in Excel, but it did not want to line up properly. I also have to make up tables in Word or Excel since it quite difficult to do much formatting of a table in Publisher. Any suggestions? Thanks.
