You can, but is far from simple.
You need to bookmark the checkboxes and test for the value using an IF field or a macro. If an IF field, you have the subsidiary checkboxes in the "truetext" part of the IF field.

It might be simpler to create and use a UserForm. Create a Simple Userform

Userforms require that macros be enabled.
