The lines are paragraph borders. Select the text, click the arrow on the border button in the Paragraph group on the Home tab and choose No Border.
In your example document, border lines have been applied as direct formatting (on top of the formatting defined by the paragraph style) so you can also get rid of it by selecting the text and pressing Ctrl+Q.
Ctrl+Q runs the ResetPara command, which clears any paragraph formatting that isn't present in the paragraph style(s) applied to the selected paragraphs.
