For years, I've used Alt+numbers from the keyboard to enter fractions or accented letters into Word documents e.g. Alt+0198 for 1/2 or Alt+233 for e with acute accent.

Tht facility has vanished and now Alt+(anything) just leaves a blank in the document.

Any ideas on how to restore things? Help would be greatly appreciated.
